It’s been a while, but I’m still around and haven’t fallen off the planet! I’ve been finalising things with the Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation and feeling proud and grateful for the effort we have made to support the kids. It feels like a while back since I started this whole Run Donna Run thing 🙂
The initial aim was to simply learn how to run again! From 30 steps to maybe a 4km fun run, while raising funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital. But for many of you who have followed me and encouraged me and supported me along the way, you will know that it turned into something a whole lot more!
This blog post is about thanking you for your awesome support and letting you know the difference we’ve made in the lives of kids and families who attend the Diabetes and Endocrinology Department at the Royal Children’s Hospital.
I initially raised awareness to the RCH Foundations ‘Wish list’ which was funds put aside for areas that needed funds immediately. So after discussions with the RCH Foundation, we agreed that the need for support in the Diabetes and Endocrinology Department was an important need, to make a difference to the children who attend the Weight Management Service. This is to educate, encourage and empower families to lead improved lifestyle changes for the needs of their child to maintain a positive outcome for their lives, for children who have or are at risk of developing diabetes.
So the big announcement if you haven’t already heard through my social media posts and website is that we raised an awesome amount of $36,726.78. Wow! 🙂
Pictured below is Matt Sabin, Director of the Department of Endocrinology and Diabetes at the RCH, we met at the RCH Foundation in March and I was so joyed to hear of the great work and breakthroughs they have had with the lives of patients at the RCH, just as he was to hear of the contribution that we have made through the Run Donna Run campaign, passing on his gratitude to everyone who has supported me too.
So a very BIG thank you to you ALL! 🙂 The list is way long of the names of donors, sponsors and media who have contributed in all of my crazy adventures and those who created your own adventures/events to contribute to the Run Donna Run funds, well done! Thank you, you know and I know who you are and I will be forever grateful to you.
So is this the end of Run Donna Run? (you may be asking) No way! 🙂 I’m still spreading my message through my website, my blog posts, social media profiles Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. I am still speaking at different events as a Keynote Speaker, and I look forward to sharing more new adventures with you in the near future.
Below are a few fun pics to remind you of just some of the different events/adventures of how funds were raised, but I couldn’t put every pic up unfortunately, there were many 🙂 Thanks again!
The Power is in Me…it’s in You too!
